Branded hi-vis vests for events and charities are a practical, cost-effective way to identify marshals, volunteers and team members in busy, outdoor environments. A printed logo on a high-visibility yellow or orange vest does two jobs at once: it keeps people safe and it puts your charity name or event brand in front of hundreds of spectators. The key is ordering the right vest, getting artwork ready correctly, and choosing between individual orders or bulk bundle deals, which is where most organisers save the most money.
Why do events and charities use hi-vis vests specifically?
Walk the route of any half marathon, community litter pick, school sports day or charity fun run and you’ll see them immediately: a line of volunteers in bright yellow or orange vests, moving through a crowd with calm authority. That visibility isn’t accidental. Hi-vis fabric is designed to be seen at a distance, and when you add a printed charity name or event logo to the back or chest, you transform a safety garment into a walking piece of marketing.
For charities in particular, this matters. Branded vests create a sense of professionalism and trustworthiness. Donors and members of the public instinctively respond better to a volunteer who looks organised and official. On a busy high street collection day or a large outdoor event, that first impression can be the difference between someone walking past and someone stopping to give.
From our experience kitting out marshals, community groups and charity teams from our Haverhill workshop, the most common request is simple: “We need something bright, with our logo on the back, that looks good but doesn’t cost a fortune.” That’s entirely achievable, if you plan ahead.
What type of hi-vis vest works best for events?
Not all hi-vis vests are created equal, and the right choice depends on your event type and budget. Here’s what to consider:
- Class 1 vests, lightweight, waistcoat-style, no reflective tape. Fine for daytime-only events where volunteers aren’t near moving traffic. Very affordable and easy to print.
- Class 2 vests, include reflective tape panels and offer a higher level of visibility. Better for events near roads, car parks or any low-light situations such as early morning charity walks or evening runs.
- Zip-front vests, slightly smarter looking and easier to remove quickly. Popular with event staff who wear them over their own branded T-shirts.
- Tabard style, open sides with velcro or ties. One-size-fits-most, which is ideal when you have a mixed group of volunteers and can’t size everyone in advance.
For the majority of charity events and fun runs, a Class 1 or Class 2 zipped vest in yellow hits the sweet spot. If your volunteers are directing traffic or working near vehicle access routes, always go Class 2 as a minimum, safety first, always.

How do you get a logo printed on a hi-vis vest safely?
This is where a lot of event organisers get caught out. Hi-vis fabric is a specialised material, the colour itself is part of the safety specification, so decoration has to be applied carefully to avoid obscuring reflective tape or compromising the garment’s visibility rating.
In practice, for most charity and event vests, printing is the right decoration method. Printing sits flat on the fabric, applies quickly and reproduces logos and text very crisply, which matters when someone needs to read “CHARITY MARSHAL” from twenty metres away. Embroidery, while excellent for workwear longevity, can sometimes sit heavy on lightweight hi-vis fabric and isn’t always the best choice for these thinner vest-style garments. If you’re unsure, just ask us, we’ll tell you honestly what works.
The golden rule for artwork: send a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) or a high-resolution PNG at 1,000 pixels or more. This ensures your logo reproduces cleanly at any size without blurring or pixelating. Logo digitising is included free of charge on all orders with us, so there’s no hidden artwork fee to worry about.
Placement options are typically:
- Back, large panel, the most visible placement; ideal for role titles (MARSHAL, VOLUNTEER, STEWARD) and charity names
- Left chest, small logo, good for a secondary logo or event branding when worn open over a T-shirt
- Both front and back, maximum visibility; popular for charity challenge events and sponsored walks
When do bundle deals make sense for charities and events?
Almost always, if you need more than around 10 vests. Unit cost drops significantly as volume increases, and for events you typically need a consistent run of the same design anyway, which is exactly what bundle pricing is built for.
We actively recommend checking our bundle deals page for printed hi-vis vests. We offer fixed-price packs of 25, 50, 100 and 250 printed vests with the logo included in the price. For a charity organising an annual event, a 50-vest bundle at a fixed price is often the clearest, most predictable way to budget, no per-logo fees, no setup surprises.
A worked example: imagine a regional charity running a sponsored 10k walk with 40 volunteers and 10 event staff. That’s 50 vests in total. At bundle pricing, the cost per vest at the 50-piece tier is meaningfully lower than ordering 50 individual items, and the fixed-price structure makes it easy to raise the budget from a trustee or events committee. The vests arrive printed, ready to hand out, with no extra steps on the day.
After the event, those vests become an asset, stored and reused year after year for future events, bucket collections, volunteer days and charity stalls. The per-use cost over three or four years is genuinely tiny.
What about no-minimum orders for smaller charity groups?
Not every charity can order 50 at once, and that’s completely fine. We have no minimum order requirement, so a small community group needing 8 or 10 vests for a local litter pick or fundraising day can still get a properly printed, professional result. Smaller quantities won’t benefit from bundle pricing, but they’re absolutely catered for, and the quality is identical regardless of order size.
If you’re a small charity just starting out with branded kit, a handful of vests alongside a run of custom T-shirts or hoodies/">personalised hoodies for your core team can give you a complete, coordinated look without a large upfront investment.
How long will it take to receive branded hi-vis vests?
Lead times for customised items are 7-10 working days and vary with demand. Plain stock ships faster. The practical advice: don’t leave your order until the week before the event. If your event is on a Saturday, placing your order at least three weeks out gives comfortable breathing room and removes the stress entirely. Delivery is £5.95 + VAT, or free on orders over £99 ex VAT.
Who is this not right for?
Honest answer: if you’re organising something where high visibility alone isn’t sufficient for the safety environment, for example, volunteers working alongside moving machinery, on construction sites, or in roles that require EN ISO 20471 Class 3 certified full-coverage garments, a basic printed event vest isn’t appropriate. In those cases, you need properly certified hi-vis workwear from a safety-rated range. We carry those too through our personalised workwear range, but it’s a different product for a different context. If you’re ever in doubt about the safety rating you need, speak to your event safety officer before ordering.
Ready to order branded hi-vis vests for your event or charity?
Whether you’re kitting out 10 volunteers for a local fun run or 200 marshals for a regional charity challenge, the process is straightforward. Get your artwork ready as a vector file or high-res PNG, decide on your placement, and choose between individual pricing or one of our fixed-price bundle deals. We’re a family-run business with in-house printing, so you’re speaking to people who actually handle your order, not a call centre.

FAQs
Can I get hi-vis vests printed with my charity logo for a one-off event?
Yes. We have no minimum order, so you can order as few as you need for a single event. For larger events, our bundle deals (25, 50, 100 or 250 printed vests at a fixed price) usually offer better value per vest.
What file format do I need for my charity logo to get it printed on hi-vis vests?
The best formats are vector files, AI, EPS, SVG or PDF. If you only have a raster image, a high-resolution PNG at 1,000 pixels or more works well. Logo digitising is included free. We don't redraw artwork, so if your logo is low-resolution, a vector version from your designer is the right solution.
How long does it take to receive branded hi-vis vests?
Lead times for customised items are 7-10 working days and vary with demand. Plain stock ships faster. We recommend ordering at least three weeks before your event to be comfortable.
Is printing or embroidery better for hi-vis event vests?
Printing is generally the better choice for lightweight hi-vis vest fabrics. It sits flat on the garment, reproduces text and logos cleanly at large sizes, and is ideal for back panels where visibility is the priority.
Do your bundle deals for hi-vis vests include the logo printing?
Yes. Our printed hi-vis vest bundle deals (available in packs of 25, 50, 100 and 250) include your logo print in the fixed price. There are no separate setup or digitising fees on top.
What hi-vis class should I choose for a charity fun run or sponsored walk?
For daytime-only events away from moving traffic, Class 1 vests are usually sufficient. If volunteers are near roads, car parks, or working in any low-light conditions, choose Class 2 as a minimum for the added reflective tape coverage.
